Andrea Zujko, Founder

Andrea Zujko, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, is a licensed and board-certified physical therapist, certified Pilates instructor, and educator specializing in dance medicine. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in 2002, received her Certification in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (COMT) through the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) in 2010, and became an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) in 2013, with recertification in 2024.

Before beginning her career in physical therapy, Andrea trained and worked as a professional dancer and completed her Pilates certification under the mentorship of Romana Kryzanowska and Bob Liekens. She went on to teach extensively in Chicago and New York City before transitioning fully into clinical practice. Since 2002, Andrea has been a senior physical therapist and clinic manager at Westside Dance Physical Therapy, where she provides onsite care for the dancers of the New York City Ballet. Her past on-site coverage has included the School of American Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Ballet Chicago, Barnard College Dance Department, and multiple Broadway productions, as well as the 2021 remake of the original film West Side Story.

Andrea’s contributions extend beyond the clinic. She has written for the American Physical Therapy Association, the Journal of Dance Medicine & Science, and publications such as Dance Spirit, Pointe, and Dance Magazine. She has presented at the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) conferences and has been invited to contribute to educational programming for professional dance organizations. In 2023, she received the Alumni of the Year Award from Northwestern University’s Department of Physical Therapy in recognition of her leadership and contributions to the field.

Since 2012, Andrea has served as adjunct faculty at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, teaching functional anatomy to BFA dance majors and providing Pilates instruction and onsite physical therapy care. She began teaching continuing education courses in 2008 and is a member of the faculty at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Performing Arts Fellowship Program. In 2020, she founded the Dance Medicine Education Initiative (DMEI), a collaborative company dedicated to advancing continuing education for healthcare and movement professionals working with dancers and performing artists.
