ONLINE/IN-PERSON COURSE
Pre-course materials:
Each participant will receive 3 recordings to watch prior to the start of the live, online course. These recordings will be available starting August 28, 2026 until the start of the course on 19, 2026

Online/Interactive course materials:
Each participant will receive all materials for the live portion of the course via a shared google drive the week prior to the course start date.
Recordings:
Each participant will receive access to a recording of Module I which will be available for 14 days post the course date.
Please note that you will need to either attend this course live or, complete a post-course assignment to receive a course completion certificate and CE credit.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of Module I, participants will be able to:
Describe the DMEI framework for dance medicine evaluation and clinical decision-making, including key components of dancer history, observation, and movement analysis.
Identify physiologic considerations relevant to the adolescent dancer and integrate these considerations into evaluation priorities and initial plan-of-care decisions.
Recognize psychological and social factors that influence adolescent dancer health and performance and apply appropriate communication strategies and referral considerations within an interdisciplinary care model.
Define foundational ballet terminology, including basic positions and elementary movements, and describe expected alignment and coordination strategies.
Apply a structured technique analysis framework to assess movement control during foundational ballet movements and interpret common postural and movement pattern findings.
Select and justify foundational retraining strategies and cueing principles addressing:
turnout
plié/relevé
weight transfer from double-leg to single-leg
Identify the key structural components of soft ballet shoes and pointe shoes and apply this information to evaluate fit and recommend basic modifications based on dancer presentation and needs.

Certificates/CEU Credits:
Each course participant will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
DMEI regularly applies for CEU credit from the New York Physical Therapy Association as well as the the State Board of Maryland for courses taught in conjunction with Johns Hopkins Hospital. Each Module is awarded between 17 and 19 CEU hours from NYPTA and 1.4 CE credits from the State Board of Maryland.
If you are interested in earning CEU’s from another state board, please email DMEI to discuss options for earning credits for your specific state.
Application for CEU credit for professions other than physical therapy to be determined based on focus of course and target audience.

If illness or an unexpected personal emergency prevents you from attending a live virtual course, please notify DMEI as soon as possible.
Because the course is delivered live online and your seat is reserved, DMEI may offer one of the following in place of a refund:
a one-time transfer to a future live course, or
a registration credit valid for 12 months (processing fees are nonrefundable)
Recording access: All participants will receive access to the course recording for 2 weeks following the live course. This allows you to review content you miss due to illness or scheduling conflicts.
Instructor / Platform / Force Majeure (DMEI:)
If DMEI must cancel, postpone, or significantly interrupt a live virtual course due to instructor illness, platform outage, or other circumstances outside of our control, participants may choose either:
a registration credit valid for 12 months toward a future course, or
a refund of tuition (excluding processing fees)
Participant Technology / Internet Issues:
Participants are responsible for reliable internet access and an appropriate device for live online attendance. DMEI is not responsible for individual connectivity, technology failures, or related disruptions. Participants will have access to the course recording for 2 weeks following the course.
Substitution:
If you are unable to attend, you may send a substitute attendee in your place with advance notice to DMEI. Substitutions are permitted for all registrations.
